Often times, as a professional wedding photographer, you face an uphill task trying to get your work recognised. Not only are you up against the high overheads (e.g. cost of equipment, studio rental, advertising & marketing etc), you also have to deal with the undercutting of rates by amateur photographers, some of whom are part-timers.

How Do You Get Certified?

To qualify as a WPAS certified photographer, you have to satisfy the following conditions:-

Pass a written examination on technical competency.
This tests your understanding of camera craft, composition and lighting.

Submit your work to a panel of judges for review and approval.
You are required to submit 10 different prints with a minimum size of 8R (8 x 10) or 8RS (8x12) for assessment by a panel of 3 FMPA qualified photographers from the Master Photographers Association, UK) (MPA).

Renewal Of Certification
Certification has to be renewed every 5 years.

Exemption from renewal of certification
Attend at least 3 courses or workshops approved by WPAS within 5 years of certification.

How To Register With WPAS
Membership is open to all full-time and part-time wedding photographers.
